Project Together: 322 Kilometres. Two Teams. One Formula We Built from Scratch.
The Manchester Hyrox Community set themselves a challenge that most people wouldn't entertain. Race from Manchester to London — 322 kilometres, relay format, teams of six, through the night. No sleep. No margin.
When they asked us to help fuel it, we didn't reach for an off-the-shelf solution. We sat down and actually thought about what their bodies would go through.
The Problem
This wasn't a marathon. It wasn't a Hyrox. It was something in between — and worse than both. Each athlete would run multiple stages across 24 hours, at pace, with incomplete recovery between efforts. The metabolic, cognitive, and structural demands stacked on each other in ways standard nutrition protocols don't account for.
They also needed to keep fluid volume low. Carrying excess liquid on a relay isn't practical. Whatever we made had to be concentrated, effective, and taste good enough to take at 3am after you've already run 30km.
The Formula
We built it around four pillars — not as a marketing framework, but as an actual design brief.
Focus. Essential amino acids to support the neurochemical environment needed to sustain effort — dopamine and serotonin precursors that keep the brain in the game when the legs want out.
Fuel. 25g of carbohydrates in a 1:0.8 glucose-to-fructose ratio — the same dual-transporter approach elite endurance athletes use to maximise absorption and minimise gut risk. Paired with a 9g blend of eight essential amino acids to stimulate glucose uptake, support protein synthesis, and spare glycogen across sustained effort.
Hydration. Water doesn't hydrate you — electrolytes do. We dosed 1,200mg across a scientifically balanced blend specifically calibrated for cellular hydration and cramp prevention. Fast-absorbing, highly bioavailable, and non-negotiable for maintaining muscle function through the night.
Recovery. Recovery doesn't start when you stop. L-Glutamine, Taurine, and Citrulline Malate work together to reduce oxidative stress, limit inflammation, and drive nitric oxide production — lowering blood lactate so each subsequent stage starts from a better position.
What makes this formula different isn't any individual ingredient. It's that every ingredient earns its place — dosed to work, chosen to work together. Focus, Fuel, Hydration, Recovery. Not separate problems. One interconnected system that rises and falls as a whole under hard effort.
This formula was designed to support all four simultaneously. Perform. Endure. Repeat.
Did it work?
Team Interval crossed the line first. 4:47/km average pace.
The formula doesn't have a name yet. It isn't for sale.
But maybe it should be.
Should we release it? Let us know.
